Terms of Use
Last updated: 15 September 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Forkout. They cover your account, the reviews and photos you post, what happens when someone behaves badly, and the limits of what we can promise. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them.
The short version
- Be honest. Only review places you have actually been to.
- There is zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour.
- You can report anything and block anyone, from inside the app.
- We act on reports within 24 hours, and we remove content and accounts that break these rules.
- What you post stays yours. You are giving us permission to show it, not ownership of it.
- Restaurant details come from Google and from other diners, so always check anything critical with the restaurant itself.

1. Who we are
Forkout is a restaurant discovery app operated from London, United Kingdom. In these terms, “Forkout”, “we” and “us” mean the operator of the Forkout app and the forkout.co.uk website. “You” means the person using the app.
How we handle your personal information is a separate document: our Privacy Policy. It forms part of this agreement.
2. Agreeing to these terms
You agree to these terms when you create an account or sign in. If you do not agree to them, please do not use Forkout.
You must agree to these terms before you can post anything — a review, a photo, a list, a profile name or an avatar.
You need to be 13 or older to have a Forkout account. If you are under 18, please check with a parent or guardian before signing up.
3. Your account
You sign in with Apple or Google. You are responsible for keeping access to that sign-in secure, and for everything that happens on your Forkout account.
Please keep your profile honest: one account per person, a username that is not designed to impersonate someone else, and a real picture of you or nothing at all. Accounts created to impersonate another person, a restaurant or a brand will be removed.
4. What you post
Reviews, ratings, photos, lists, usernames, avatars and anything else you add to Forkout are your content. You keep every right you already have in it. We do not claim ownership.
To be able to show your content to the people you are sharing it with, we need your permission. So you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt for display and distribute your content, for as long as you keep it on Forkout and solely in order to operate and promote the service. That licence ends when you delete the content, other than for copies already shared with other people and for backups we have not yet cycled out.
Please only post content you have the right to post. Do not upload someone else’s photographs, menus or writing without their permission.
You are responsible for what you post. Reviews should be your genuine, first-hand opinion of a place you have actually visited. Forkout exists because people trust what they read on it, and invented reviews break the one thing the app is for.
5. The rules: zero tolerance
There is no tolerance on Forkout for objectionable content or abusive behaviour. Content that breaks these rules is removed, and the account that posted it can be suspended or permanently ended, without warning.
Do not post, upload, share or send anything that:
- harasses, bullies, threatens or intimidates another person;
- is hateful towards, or discriminates against, anyone on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, age, sex, gender identity or sexual orientation;
- is sexually explicit, or sexualises a child in any way;
- is violent, graphic or cruel, or encourages self-harm;
- is knowingly false, defamatory, or written to damage a restaurant or a person you have a grudge against;
- is a review of a place you have not been to, or a review you have been paid to write;
- is spam, a scam, an advertisement, or bulk or automated posting;
- shares someone else’s private information, including their address, phone number or photograph, without their consent;
- impersonates another person, a restaurant or Forkout itself;
- infringes anyone’s copyright, trade mark or other rights; or
- is unlawful, or encourages anyone to do something unlawful.
Nor should you misuse the service itself: no scraping, no automated access, no attempt to break, overload or reverse-engineer the app, and no attempt to reach another person’s account or data.
6. Reporting, blocking and what we do
Reporting content
Every review, photo, list and profile on Forkout can be reported from inside the app. Tap the ⋯ menu on the item and choose Report. Tell us briefly what is wrong with it. You do not have to explain yourself at length, and the person you report is never told who reported them.
Reported content is hidden from you straight away, while we look at it.
Blocking someone
You can block any other person from their profile or from one of their posts. When you block someone:
- their posts leave your feed immediately;
- your posts stop reaching them;
- any connection between you is removed, and they cannot send you a new request; and
- we are notified, so we can look at the account and the content behind the block.
You can unblock someone later from your settings. Blocking is private: the other person is not told.
What we do, and how quickly
We review every report within 24 hours. Where content breaks these rules, we remove it. Where an account is responsible for objectionable content or abusive behaviour, we suspend or permanently remove that account.
We may also remove content or end an account on our own initiative, without a report, where we find something that breaks these rules. Where the law requires it, we will pass information to the relevant authorities.
You can also reach us directly at hello@forkout.co.uk if something is urgent or if you would rather not report it in the app.
7. Circles and other people
Forkout lets you connect with people you know, and share what you post with them. A few things worth being clear about:
- What you post is visible to the people you chose to share it with. Consider anything you post as something you cannot fully take back, because other people may already have seen it.
- Other people’s reviews are their opinions, not ours, and not statements of fact by Forkout.
- Only add people you actually know. Forkout works on trust, not on follower counts.
8. Restaurant information
Details about restaurants — opening hours, address, price level, ratings, photographs and attributes such as “halal options” or “dog friendly” — come from Google, from the restaurants themselves, and from other Forkout diners. We do our best to keep it accurate and to mark clearly where a claim has been verified.
Please always check anything critical with the restaurant directly. That matters especially for dietary, allergy and religious requirements, including halal and vegetarian information. A verification mark on Forkout means other people reported something to be true, not that we can guarantee it on the day you visit.
Forkout is not responsible for the food, service, safety or conduct of any restaurant listed in the app.
9. Bookings and offers
When you tap through to reserve a table, you leave Forkout and complete the booking with a third party such as the restaurant or a reservation platform. We do not hold your reservation, take payment, or control what that third party does. Their terms apply to the booking.
Where Forkout shows a partner offer, the restaurant sets and honours that offer. We will describe it as accurately as we can, but the restaurant decides whether the conditions have been met.
10. Our app and brand
The Forkout app, website, design, logo and name belong to us. You may use them to use Forkout in the ordinary way, and not for anything else. Please do not copy the app, resell it, or use our name and logo in a way that suggests we endorse something we do not.
11. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time in Settings. Deleting your account removes your data as described in the Privacy Policy.
We can suspend or end your account if you break these terms, in line with section 5 and section 6. If we do that because of objectionable content or abusive behaviour, it may be immediate and permanent.
12. What we can and cannot promise
We work hard to make Forkout accurate, fast and available. We cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free, that every restaurant detail is correct, or that you will love every recommendation. Forkout is provided on an “as is” basis.
We may change, add or remove features as the app develops. Where a change materially affects you, we will tell you.
13. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot legally be limited.
Subject to that, we are not liable for loss that was not reasonably foreseeable, for loss of profit or opportunity, or for anything arising from your dealings with a restaurant, a reservation platform or another Forkout user.
You use Forkout as a consumer. Nothing here affects your statutory rights.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Forkout evolves. When we make material changes we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, tell you in the app. Continuing to use Forkout after a change means you accept the updated terms.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you keep the right to bring proceedings in your own country.
